Sometimes we get confused about who is an entrepreneur and why are business owners called entrepreneurs.
To some of you am sure you might think that’s really an easy question but of course it really is in an easy question, so if you were to start your own business right now, are you proud to call yourself an entrepreneur?
I have witness some people who start a business of their own yet if i should describe them as an entrepreneur they would reject it saying; I don’t think am worth being called an entrepreneur.
Why do you think they would say that?
The answer is very simple: They take entrepreneur as a company owner not a small business owner.
They think business owners are only qualified to call themselves an entrepreneur if their business growth is up to a company’s or if they have successfully form an enterprise of their own.
I know some of you have already given it a thought and agree with that, but I disagree with that.
An entrepreneur has been defined as, “a person who starts, organizes and manages any form of business, usually with considerable initiative and risk; running a small business with all the risk and reward of any given business process”.
As long as you are the owner of your business, then you are an entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurs tend to be good at perceiving new business opportunities and they often exhibit positive biases in their perception (i.e. a bias towards finding new possibilities and seeing not met market needs) and a pro-risk-taking attitude that makes them more likely to exploit the opportunity.
As an entrepreneur of your business, you want to bring your business to success, you suffer a loss and you gain as well.
Entrepreneurs act as managers and oversee the launch and growth of their business. In other words, entrepreneurs are leaders in their own stage.
The term entrepreneur implies qualities of leadership, initiative, and innovation in new venture design. An entrepreneur is willing and able to convert a new idea or invention into a successful innovation.
Talking about all of this and all of that, you should also know that this is also applicable to online businesses too. Entrepreneurs are entrepreneurs no matter what form of business is being taken ( big or small ), as long as you are the owner of that business, you are an entrepreneur.
So how is it that you are qualified to call yourself an entrepreneur?
The term entrepreneur is defined as an individual who organizes or operates a business or businesses and also entrepreneurs are seen as “risk takers and planners“.
Entrepreneurship has been described as the “capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit”.
You are the owner of your business then you should be proud of having a business of your own by describing yourself as an entrepreneur.
Already thinking of starting your own business? Good, but before that, it’s advisable for you to know the questions you need to ask yourself before going into any form of business.
